FEATURES & PERSONALIZATION
Data tracking before version 2.63.0
How does WalkFit track my steps? WalkFit gathers data from all sources connected to the app, which may include sensors from your iPhone, Apple Health, Fitbit, and/or other wearable. We aggregate information compiled by these apps throughout the day to provide you with a holistic view of your daily activity, which includes total steps, distance covered, calories burned, and active time. In a situation where there are multiple data sources for one period of time, our system carefully analyzes all sources to avoid “double dipping” (i.e. counting the same activity more than once). Ultimately, we take into account whichever source is highest.
The steps in the app don’t match my wearable or other tracking app. Activity data displayed within the app may appear greater than what you see on your wearable because WalkFit aggregates data from all sources to give you the most accurate and holistic view of your activity. These sources may include your phone’s sensor, Apple Health, and/or Fitbit. While we may pull data from different sources, our system is set up to avoid “double dipping.” This means, when we have information from multiple sources for the same time period, we’re not counting that same activity multiple times, but taking data from a single source (the highest).

Why don't the steps in the app match my wearable or other tracking app? Activity data displayed within the app may appear greater or less than what you see on your wearable because WalkFit aggregates data from all sources to give you a holistic view of your activity. These sources may include your phone’s sensor, Wear OS device, Google Fit, and/or Fitbit. While we may pull data from different sources, our system is set up to avoid “double dipping.” This means, when we have information from multiple sources for the same time period, we’re not counting that same activity multiple times, but taking data from a single source (the highest). The delay in data can take up to 15 minutes to update.
Data tracking starting version 2.63.0
How does WalkFit track my steps? WalkFit collects fitness data, such as steps and distance, from your selected source (Apple Health, or Fitbit ). This data is then processed on our servers every 30-60 minutes or whenever you open the app. During processing, we calculate burned calories and exercise time, updating your daily goal accordingly. Due to periodic updates, the daily goal displayed on widgets, notifications, or the main screen may show slightly lower numbers than the actual total. However, the data will be fully accurate after a short time (approx. 30-60 min), or you can refresh it by opening the app or using the pull-to-refresh feature on the main screen. When you change your health data source, WalkFit begins collecting data from the new source immediately. This means that if you switch sources mid-day, your daily goal will include steps from both the previous and new sources.
Why don't the steps in the app match my wearable or other tracking app? WalkFit displays your activity data directly from your selected source (Apple Health or Fitbit ), so the data in the app should match the data displayed in your selected source. Sometimes, WalkFit may display less data than the source. This may occur if permissions are revoked, the connection is lost, or the app is uninstalled. When this occurs, an error message will appear on the main screen of the app. To resolve this, you need to reconnect to your current source or select a different one. If you change your health data source during the day, your daily goal will include steps from both the previous and new sources. This may cause the data in your daily goal to be higher than the individual totals displayed in the selected source. WalkFit processes health data periodically (approx. every 30-60 min), so sometimes the daily goal shown on widgets, notifications, or the main screen may be slightly delayed in updating. However, the data will be fully accurate after a short time. You can also refresh it by opening the app or using the pull-to-refresh feature on the main screen.

How does WalkFit track my steps? WalkFit collects your health data, such as steps and distance, from your selected source (your device sensors, WearOS, Google Fit, Google Health Connect or Fitbit ). This data is then processed on our servers every 30 minutes to 4 hours depending on the amount of steps tracked or whenever you open the app. During processing, we calculate burned calories and exercise time, updating your daily goal accordingly. Due to periodic updates, the daily goal displayed on widgets, notifications, or the main screen may show slightly lower numbers than the actual total. However, the data will be fully accurate after a short period (approx. 30 minutes - 4 hours), or to expedite the update, you can refresh the data by opening the app or using the pull-to-refresh feature on the main screen. When you change your health data source, WalkFit begins collecting data from the new source immediately. This means that if you switch sources mid-day, your daily goal will include steps from the previous source, as well as the new one.

How does WalkFit track my speed?
Our app takes information from your device's activity manager to track your steps and speed, as well as whether the device you’re using is stationary or moving (walking/running). Using a special formula, the app calculates how fast you’re moving your device during a specific period of time. So if you stop, the app will show “0” as your current speed. Please note that you have to keep your phone or Apple Watch with you during the workout for the program to display the correct data. The only exception is when performing indoor video workouts.

Why does your app show a different calorie record from the other app I have?
Our app tracks only the calories burned through walking, so you can see how much energy you’re using from this specific activity. Your other app may show your total daily calorie burn from midnight to the current time, including your baseline metabolic rate and your activity level (e.g., sedentary, lightly active, moderately active, very active). This means the other app’s total may include calories burned during sleep or from other activities. While both methods are valid, our app focuses specifically on calories burned through walking, rather than your overall daily expenditure.
Why don't the steps in the app match my wearable or other tracking app?
WalkFit collects your step and distance information from your chosen source: Apple Health or Fitbit. The data is updated every 30-60 minutes or as soon as you open the app. Because of this, you might notice your step count is delayed or slightly lower on the home screen or in notifications. This is temporary, and the data will be fully accurate after the next sync. You can also refresh the app manually by re-opening it or using the pull-to-refresh feature on the main screen.
If you are interested in seeing other wearable or tracking app integrations, we would greatly appreciate it if you could contact us with your preference via the Contact Us form, so we can submit your feature request to our technology team.
